After a nationwide search, Maricopa Integrated Health System (MIHS) has appointed Michael White, MD’01, MBA’19, as executive vice president and chief medical officer. His official start date is Aug. 12.
White’s role will be to advance the mission, vision and values of MIHS to improve clinical outcomes, enhance patient experience, and grow key programs. White also will serve as a liaison with MIHS partners District Medical Group and the Creighton University Arizona Health Education Alliance.
Currently, White is chief academic officer at CHI Health in Omaha, a non-profit, faith-based health system providing services in 18 states through 101 hospitals, including three academic health centers and major teaching hospitals. Since 2015, he also is associate dean for education innovation at Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha.
A practicing interventional cardiologist, he is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular diseases and interventional cardiology. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Creighton University and his medical degree from the Creighton University School of Medicine, where he also completed a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in cardiovascular disease. He completed a fellowship in interventional cardiology at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina.
With White’s appointment, Amy McGaha, MD, professor and chair of the Department of Family Medicine in the School of Medicine, joined the CIPER team June 1 as director of the Interprofessional Clinical Learning Environment. Her role includes exploring ways to expand interprofessional clinical learning environments within CHI Health. White will continue to serve CIPER as a member of the CIPER Administrative Council and help grow programming with clinical partners in Phoenix.
