DeSimone Served on Special Committee

SPAHP_DeSimone_EdwardEdward DeSimone II, RPh, PhD, FAPhA, professor in the Department of Pharmacy Sciences, served on the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) 2020 Special Committee on Substance Use and Pharmacy Education. The committee was charged to update the work of the 2010 Special Committee on Substance Abuse and Pharmacy Education Report (SAPER) specifically with recommendations on core curricular content and delivery processes on substance misuse and substance use disorder (SUD). This report provides the committee’s recommendations as provided in the charges as well the rationale for substance use disorders being a critical topic for curriculum at colleges and schools of pharmacy. This committee offers several recommendations to AACP pertaining to the committee charges. The report is published in the November issue of the American Journal of Pharmaceutical Education.

DeSimone also is only member of the Special Committee who also served on the 2010 Special Committee and is a past member of the AACP Board of Directors.
