When Canon Solutions America joined the Creighton team in 2016, they developed a campaign in conjunction with the Office of Sustainability to reduce paper usage on campus. This campaign has been a tremendous success!
Using metrics Canon worked with departments to help reduce print usage, department cost and overall carbon footprint. The Division of Information Technology and Library Services reduced their printing by 20% in one year. From 2017 through 2019, Creighton faculty, staff, and students reduced print impressions by 1.6 million or 11%. Environmentally this means that print reductions over three years has saved 128 trees, 109,000 gallons of water, and 11,700 pounds of CO2 reduced from the paper production process.
