Kelly Attends Papal Audience at the Vatican

IMG_7286[7][2]Michael Kelly, JD, LLM, holder of the Senator Allen A. Sekt Endowed Chair in Law, recently traveled to Rome to address the 20th International Congress of Penal Law and met Pope Francis in the Apostolic Palace at an audience granted to the group. Kelly had the opportunity to thank Pope Francis for his crucial personal diplomacy that reopened the Cuba-U.S. bilateral relationship in 2014 and presented him with a new book on Cuba for the Vatican Library, co-edited by Kelly and Erika Moreno, PhD, chair of the Department of Political Science and International Relations, andRichard Witmer, PhD, John P. Schlegel, SJ, Distinguished Professor of Government and Politics. Kelly reported that Pope Francis was pleased with the good work that Creighton University is doing.
