Beran-Shepler Co-Presents IPE Assessment

KimBeranSheplarKimberly Beran-Shepler, PT, DPT, OCS, assistant professor in the Department of Physical Therapy and co-director of Interprofessional Education (IPE) Passport along with other university colleagues will present a poster regarding their research on interprofessional education (IPE) requiring a mixed methods approach for assessment at the March 2020 National Academies of Practice Conference in San Diego.

The team collected data for over eight years which included over 11,000 learners. They did not successfully discern quantitative pre-post participation differences to evaluate student learning regardless of the four different tools. In contrast, informal qualitative assessments, such as intraprofessional reflection and debriefings, consistently suggested the value of IPE.
