Jiang Speaks at DOD Strategic Multilayer Assessment Senior Review Section

maorongMaorong Jiang, PhD, associate professor of Political Science and director of the Asian World Center, spoke at the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) Strategic Multilayer Assessment Senior Review Section on October 15 for the project of “The Future of Global Competition & Conflict.” The event was held at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. Presenters shared their views on the nature of deterrence, extended deterrence, compellence, escalation management, and persuasion in a dynamically changing world.

Jiang’s presentation is entitled “A Flexible Framework to Achieve Strategic Objectives in U.S.-China Policy.” Jiang received a $20,000 research grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for the project. He is also working on the Chinese and Russian relationships with key regional (MENA) powers over the next five to 25 years, a project of the U.S. CENTCOM entitled Strategic Implications of Regional and Population Dynamics in the Central Region.
