Amy Abbott, PhD, RN, associate professor in the College of Nursing, received the Winnifred E. Pinch Award from Iota Tau, the local chapter of Sigma Theta Tau the International Honor Society of Nursing during its annual induction ceremony September 30 on Creighton’s campus.
Abbott was honored for her work as part of a larger interprofessional team researching telehealth led by Vanessa Jewell, PhD, OTR/L, assistant professor in the department of Occupational Therapy. Abbott will use the award money to hire a nursing student to assist her with outcome evaluation as part of the interprofessional team project, “The Efficacy of an Occupational-Based Coaching for Rural Families with a Child with Type 1 Diabetes: A Randomized Controlled Pilot Study.”
The purpose of the Winnifred E. Pinch award is to encourage research by qualified nurses and/or nursing students conducting research to advance knowledge in the area of nursing science. Candidate selection is competitive based on the quality of the written proposal, the contribution of the proposed research to nursing science and public benefit, and value to the education of nurses.
