Kingfisher Institute Fall Programming

KingfishInst_Vertical_RGB-smThe Kingfisher Institute for the Liberal Arts and Professions, newly established as part of the “Leading with the Liberal Arts” strategic plan goal, is starting to roll out programming for the fall. Faculty and staff are invited to get involved and explore the creative intersections between liberal arts and professional education. Activities planned for this fall include:

  • Reading groups for faculty and staff, which will explore the themes of “Narratives of Health and Illness” and “Race in America: 1919-2019”
  • Lectures and visiting scholars including: Tom Kirsch MD, MPH, BA’80, as part of Reunion Weekend in September, and Nicole Piemonte, PhD, author and faculty member at the School of Medicine Phoenix campus, in October
  • “Frankenweek” (Oct. 24-31): part of an international celebration of the 200th anniversary of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. Activities planned include film showings, an expert panel, 60-second lectures, a read-a-thon, and more.
