Dineen Featured in Various Publications, Honored for Work in Health Law

SOL_Dineen_KellyKelly Dineen, RN, JD, PhD, assistant professor of law and director of the health law program, has been involved in the works of several publications and the recipient of a few honors.

  • Publications:
    • “Prescription Drug Diversion and Pain: History, Policy and Treatment,” co-edited by Dineen, will be published by Oxford University Press in June 2018. Dineen is the author of two chapters in the book, “Legal Regulation of Prescription Opioids and Prescribers” and “Opioid Use in Special Populations.”
    • Dineen was part of the research team responsible in the publication of “Exploring Unnecessary Invasive Procedures in the United States: A Retrospective Mixed-Methods Analysis of Cases from 2008-16,” published in the December 2017 issue of Patient Safety in Surgery.
    • Dineen is also the co-editor of a special symposium edition of Narrative Inquiry in Bioethics on Living in Pain in the Midst of the Opioid Crisis, expected in summer 2018.
  • Honors:
    • Dineen will participate in the May 4 American Bar Association (ABA)’s Summit titled “Experienced Lawyers, American Families and the Opioids Crisis.” She is the representative of the ABA’s Commission on Disability Rights.
    • Dineen is a consultant for the American Health Law Association’s Public Interest Section as they prepare a future session on the opioid crisis.
    • Dineen is a member of the national program committee for the American Society of Bioethics and the Humanities. She also recently presented her work at the national meeting last October.
